Implementing an Ambulatory Care EMR: Challenges and Successes

Increasing numbers of Ambulatory Care practices are in the process of planning for and implementing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) This panel discussion will focus on how the Lutheran Family Health Centers, a 24 site federally qualified health center network in Southwest Brooklyn, rolled out their EMR in a large and complex environment. LFHC, an affiliate of Lutheran Medical Center, sees approximately 95,000 patients and 600,000 visits annually and offers a full range of preventive, primary care, specialty care, dental and mental health services and is a participating member of the New York City PCIP Project.
The panel will present the various steps, accomplishments and lessons learned as part of the EMR project's implementation phase, as well as future plans to share data with other health care institutions through the CHCANYS CHITA and the Brooklyn RIO-BHIX.
